We are crossing Europe by bicycle to raise money for World Bicycle Relief and celebrate freedom of movement within our continent. While we're at it, we want to inspire other cyclists to try similar adventures.
We travel completely self-supported: we'll sleep where we can and eat what we can find.
We pay for the costs of the trip ourselves: 100% of the money we receive will go directly to World Bicycle Relief.
As Europeans, freedom of movement between the members of the Union is a privilege we often take for granted. The route, which crosses 9 different countries, is a celebration of that privilege.
We left Stockholm on June 1st and plan to arrive in Madrid by the end of the month.
Contact us if the route passes close to where you live and you want to ride with us.
An important part of this project is our desire to show that bicycles have a huge potential to do good in the world.
In the developing world, where walking is the primary mode of transportation for many people, everyday tasks can quickly become a struggle against time and fatigue. Going to school, visiting the health clinic, and delivering goods to market is more challenging because of the barrier of distance. A bicycle offers the real and immediate benefit of reliable access to essential goods and services.
That is why we’re using the whole trip as a fundraising stunt to raise money for World Bicycle Relief.
Freewheel is composed of four friends with a passion for cycling and storytelling. Our plan is to create a format that can be reused for future adventures, such as participating in the Transcontinental.
